Alwan^®’s story dates back to 1934; the year in which Georges R. Coussa established a corporation specialized in the trading of colors and dyes in the Syrian market. Throughout the years, the establishment, which was known as Georges Coussa’s store, has successfully developed its business to become one of the leading chemical manufacturing and trading companies in Syria, offering world-class service and a diverse range of innovative market leading products and brand names.

Starting in colorants, the company grounded itself in the Syrian trading market. This has not only established our company as a major force within the industry, but also made of us a partner-of-choice and a reference in the colorants and chemicals field.

In the early 1990s, while the Syrian market was evolving considerably, new opportunities were recognized and lead to the establishment of Alwan^®. This has since allowed us to diversify our operations into both trading and manufacturing of dyes and pigments. Currently, our product portfolio includes more than 500 single entities.

Due to its strategic location and its stance in the Syrian business arena, Alwan^® decided, in the late 1980s, to have its headquarters, warehouses, laboratories and industrial facilities in the city of Aleppo.

Today, Alwan^® is a market leader in the chemicals, pigments and dyes.
